EACH YEAR, THOUSANDS OF UNWANTED DOMESTIC COMPANION ANIMALS ARE BORN WORLDWIDE.
Due to country-wide crippling poverty, Mexican animals, in particular, bear more than their fair share of suffering. Many are left to fend for themselves in the streets, fighting hunger, disease and abuse.
THE MAIN MISSION OF THE BALAM FOUNDATION IS TO STOP THE CYCLE OF SUFFERING
We rescue and foster the most vulnerable animals we find, taking them into our sanctuary, and turning their lives around by placing them in their best forever homes we find. Many of our cats are placed in the United States and Canada. In addition we run weekly sterilization campaigns for companion animals in remote communities along with offering TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) to cats and dogs in communities that otherwise have no access to veterinary care – we are getting ever-closer to that goal. The Balam Foundation lends a helping hand to families and individuals who demonstrate a loving and enduring relationship with their pets but are unable to afford veterinary care. Lastly, we believe education is key to ending animal abuse and suffering. The Balam Foundation offers educational workshops for children focused on safeguarding biodiversity and the critical importance of conservation.
